A very entertaining gaming arcade with a lot to offer. My son and I visited this place for a boys outing and it was right up our alley. The only reason I'm giving it three stars is we did not try the restaurant - we had eaten before we stopped in, the time restrictions on the game cards we purchased, and having to pay separately for the eSports/console and pc gaming area. Otherwise, it was a pretty cool place to visit. We arrived here right at 11 am and since it was a week day (I'm guessing), it wasn't packed at all. My son and I had the run of the gamut so to speak. We purchased a groupon for unlimited access to all the arcade games and that groupon offer also came with a $10 card for the ticket dispensing games. Without the groupon it would of been terribly expensive to stay as long as we did. We entertained ourselves at this establishment for about 4 and half hours (11 am to 3:30 pm)! I highly recommend doing the groupon offer for this place if you are planning on visiting Gameworks. My only complaints, 2 to be exact, are the way the game cards are set up to not allow you to consecutively play a game and continue after you die/run out of time/out of lives, etc. I had to play a different a game then go back and play the game I was previously at. However, we found a workaround sort of to this, since my son was with me, i would swipe and play and when I would need to continue I would have him swipe his card. That would only get us so far though. Gameworks should change this time restriction as it kills the gaming value when you need to continue at a game you are getting into. Second complaint is, how the game card doesn't let you pay for the eSports/console and pc gaming area. I had to pay cash for the different tiered time allotments. It wasn't too expensive but if you are paying for time on the card you should be able to use that time in that area also. They also need more copies of the console games that exclusively feature multiplayer games. I didn't try my hand at any of the pc games but I did observe a group playing counterstrike and the game looked smooth and the graphics were great looking. Another thing I thought was cool was the up to date information/specs on the gaming rigs for the pc gaming section in the games catalog. Gameworks offer PC rigs, Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Wii U consoles. Gameworks needs more pinball games! I rotated throughout the three pinball games they had and it was good fun. I especially liked the Walking Dead pinball game. One might say you could label this as a economy Dave & Buster's but with the addition of the eSports area it does set itself apart in that aspect. I've visited D & B's on many occasions in the past and there is more of an older appeal there. Plus, you get to walk around with an alcoholic drink throughout the venue, bonus! Gameworks is more focused toward a family arcade feel. Gameworks is a clean setup, good fun for the family, and it has great selection of games for every age. Again, I recommend purchasing the Groupon offer (while it lasts) to take advantage of everything they have to offer. Have fun!

Didn't go there for games. Was the only restaurant we could find in the area. But the good was great, service fast, and beer was cold and big. Had a neat little window fireplace at the table which was nice, because I was chilly. I had a Caesar salad which was huge and fresh. Great food!

We showed up around 5:30pm on a Tuesday night, before the Jazz game. Our first clue should of been when we only saw 2 people eating in the whole restaurant. We sat down and received our drinks promptly. Once we ordered our meal, the (very under dressed, tattooed, homeless looking) waiter said they only had 1 cook there tonight..... On a Jazz home game night??? Once our food did arrive (30 mins later) the fish and chips were terrible.. The fish was crispy on the outside and soft and mushy on the inside. They flavor was very dry and bland. My buddy ordered the steak nacho's and received nachos with burnt cheese and beef jerky on top. WAY over cooked! As far as the games go, half of them were broken (racing and shooter games). We got a 1 hour play card with our nasty meal and it only worked in half the machines?? This place is no Dave and Busters. PLEASE save your TIME and MONEY and just grab a corndog and a bag of chips from the gas station, this place is the worst.

This place could have easily gotten a 4 star if they were more organized and better staff. I know business is not doing that great so they have to cut back but man that only makes things worse. 12 of us came and caught the tail end of the happy hour, M-F 3-7 for 1/2 off appetizers. The appetizers came out quickly enough and our server, being new was pretty good. By the tail end of dinner, things were supper slow. Our entrees took forever to come out, then getting our game cards was another eternity. The games were fun to play. One catch that we saw was that you can't use your hour-game card at the same game consecutively. I understand that they don't want someone to hog a game but that's pretty lame when you are in the middle of shooting aliens/zombies/whatever is jumping at you. Would I go back, yes. I just hope things pick up and they get the staff they need.

Very small....was my initial impression. Very few games. All shooter games are the same. All racing games are the same. Can't believe they still put the Daytona racing game in there...lame. Not 1 vintage game. Not 1. Need like 5 different passes to use what little they have. Kids already have xbox and playstation at home. Arcade is lacking......uh everything. You can play better games in best buy...for free. Person in charge of this does not play games....promise. Dining area with no bar. Looks unfinished. No character. No full strength beers in bottle.....grocery store choices. You CANNOT walk around with a beer. Big screens aren't in HD. 2015. $58 for 2 kids for 2 hours....left with a half hour to go on their cards.....11 year olds....your demographic. Huge let down. Chef/Manager had to assist us just to get 2 game cards.....dropping f bombs in front of guests is hardly professional.....everyone else acted normal. The arcade I used to visit in the 80's crushes this place. Way off the mark fellas. What a rip off. Don't waste your money. Go to Gamestop and invest in a game to take home. Everything is watered down in Utah....even arcades.

Imagine an arcade with games that are clean and not sticky or gross... That's Gameworks! Everything inside this newly opened arcade is clean and well maintained. Most of the games are brand new and the ones that aren't are in great condition. I loved the crazy Pacman air hockey game, the football and basketball games, and the many racing and shooting games. Besides the arcade games Gameworks also has an area for PC gaming with a wide variety of PC games available for play. There is also a large restaurant and bar area with a wide variety of drinks and eats. I always loved going to Gameworks in Las Vegas and it's awesome that we now have one in Salt Lake City. I'm looking forward to going back.

Before anything else is said, the food here is awful garbage. Eat somewhere else, then come back for the games. Seriously. I'm not messing around here, if you order something here you will regret it. We ate here with around 23 people for a birthday party and as far as I know not a single person liked their food. That being said, I'll split the review into two parts, food and games. Food: 2/5 If you're going to order the food, let me at least give you a list of what to avoid... Mac and Cheese - So overpriced. $11 gets you a small bowl with a single layer of food. The cheese wasn't good either. 2 people ordered this, they both didn't like it. I had it as well, it was bad. The burgers - We went with the BBQ Bacon Burger. It wasn't great. The bacon was small and thin. The burger had no flavor...there just wasn't anything going on with it. The fries were okay. No one else that ordered burgers liked them. A friend asked what the server recommended and he said the pizza was awful. He couldn't give a suggestion, and I would assume that is because all the food here is bad. It's also priced pretty high, especially for the portion size. If you are going to get something, consider getting a Dine n Play option that comes with food and an hour of game time for $15. Seriously though, don't eat here. Just come back for games. Games: 5/5 The games here are fantastic. They've got a good assortment of arcade games as well as ticket games. Prices are reasonable. We had an absolute blast trying to get through as many of the arcade games as we could in an hour. Some of the favorites... DDR - They have a Dance Dance Revolution machine that has around 500 or so songs, probably more. Basically it has the songs from every DDR game ever made as far as I could tell. It was a very nice screen, two player, great sound, and more. It was a blast to play. Pac-man Air Hockey - It starts with one puck, but eventually 25+ mini pucks will all drop out and it's a race to score them. It's an absolute blast and a fun twist on air hockey. Mario Kart Arcade - I didn't know this existed. It's Mario Kart, side by side so you can play two player, arcade style. Game play is close to the same, items are a little different, you can be Pac-man or Ms. Pac-man, or even one of the ghosts. It was really, really fun. The gun shooting games - There are 3 of these, one is pirate themed, another Transformers theme and the last is a horror one. The horror one is crazy, it's got 3D glasses, air bursts, vibration, and a few other things. It was a blast. Star Wars Podracer - Remember the Nintendo 64 game, Episode I Podracer? They have it here. You get to sit in an actual podracer and race like you would on Tattooine. It was a blast to learn the controls and race on. They've got plenty of others, but those ones stuck out to me. The ticket style games are your usual assortment, and of course the prizes cost a good amount of tickets. We found that if you did the plinko one with a spaceship and dropped the puck off on the little spaceship icon you could get 500 tickets fairly easy. 3 of us hit it twice each. We cashed out on a ton of different prizes. I went with a bunch of army men, candy, and some other random things. The arcade service was good, the employees were fun and friendly. The food service was okay, but some of it was cold and of course it all tasted bad. They were kind enough to turn on the 20+ TV's in the room we were in to the UK/ND game, which was awesome. That about sums up the experience, awful, awful food, great fun games.

Gameworks is a modern, family-friendly arcade with a full service restaurant and bar. My favorite part of the arcade was the two different versions of Dance Dance Revolution. That game takes me back to my Elementary and Jr. High days spent at the Utah Fun Dome and Hollywood Connection (RIP). Hopefully this place can last longer than both of those spots. Some others that I liked were the Pacman version of air hockey, Mario Kart, and Dawn of the Dead. I wasn't too impressed with some of the food items like the pasta or beef skewer that I tried, but I did like their tex mex rolls. The brownie bites were also tasty. It's awesome that they serve booze, but unfortunately you can't bring it out of the restaurant area. Limited to pre-gaming, you are.

Who says you're too old to play arcade games? It better be no one. I feel like I turned back the years to my adolescent time and just lived it up. Before we started I will make a note that my review is for the arcade. I will most likely never frequent this place for the food. In my opinion, it doesn't taste good. Nothing stands out as being a signature item that Gameworks does best. The space is nice and large with plenty of TVs that'll show most sporting events. Now onto the arcade. Skiball, grownup basketball, shooter games, dance-dance revolution, live QB challenge and the scariest 3D interactive zombie game I have ever played in my life. I could go on and on about the games. They were so much fun. I had a 3 hour time card and I didn't stop but for a mere few minutes to catch my breath from all the running around I did. All the games were brand new. No need for quarters or tokens as a Gameworks swipe card is the preferred method of use. The space is large. Games are spread out so you never really bump into others while you're playing. You can even collect tickets on some games for prizes but that's not really my thing. If anyone has ever been to CA, you'd know this place is kind of like a Dave & Busters but not. Their back room area has a bunch of computers and gaming consoles to appeal for the online gamer which is kind of cool. Not really my thing, but I like the fact they made that appeal towards all gamers. I will definitely "nerd" it up every so often at this place.

Gameworks is awesome! The place is huge and the layout is perfect. They have tons of arcade and ticket games as well as a whole separate room with PS4s Xbones and gaming PCs. Everything in here is brand new and in great condition, no laggy broken games here. They also have a really nice restaurant and bar if you need to take a break from the intense gaming. I tried a variety of foods from the buffet and everything was really good, especially the steak skewers. The photo booth is really unique and lets you customize all sorts of things. I got tons of fun pictures. The staff were all really nice and helpful. The gateway is the perfect place for this fun attraction.

A fun place to take kids on a Sunday because most places are closed. You can enjoy fun things.

The only thing that makes up for the abysmal service is the food...stray away from the traditional bar menu food and go with the chef's specials! Loved the Dino eggs for Jurassic World that they did!!

Fun for the games but the food was pretty disappointing. We waited forever for our food just to have it wrong in more ways than one. The games were great besides you have a 60 second delay with the game cards. I wouldn't care to come to this place again.

I haven't been to a gameworks in years! So seeing one here in salt lake got me pretty excited. I was kind of disappointed because the amount of games they had was really limited. I was happy that they had 2 different versions of Dance Dance Revolution because that is my Jam!! They also had a separate room with pcs for "esports", you know like good old fashoin lan parties. So they had a good number of ppl their playing some league of legends. Their ticket games was a hit or miss for me. Some where decient but others were pretty lame. They did have xbox one as a prize but the amount of tickets required is going to cost you double the amount it would cost to just buy it, unless you are super lucky and win jackpots in every game. The place it self was very clean. I didnt try the food so i cant say anything about that. In the end it was ok. Not the coolest or funniest arcade I have been to but better than nothing at all, which is what this mall has been for a couple of years already.

This is what Salt Lake City has been needing! A video game arcade, restaurant and sports bar all in one place... $8 lunch menu M-F 11a-2p, and it comes with a game card?! Sounds good to me. They have over 20 flat screens to watch the Jazz play, half price appetizers M-F from 3-7, and everyday you can order their dine n play combo which lets you pick a meal and play for one hour for 15 bucks! Definitely will hit this spot when I come back to Salt Lake City! ps try the jalepeno cheese torpedo appetizer (like a crab rangoon eggroll yum!) -the chicken parmesan is also delicious and the portion size is huge!

Hidden from the many arcade and carnival style games in the main lobby lies a large room where true gaming nerds can feel at home. Rent a PC, Wii U, or other gaming console and select from a list of popular games for $5.00 an hour per person.

First time for my wife and I to eat at Gameworks. Since living in SLC I have been looking for a location to call MY sports bar but haven't found it until now. Food was delicious and we were very pleased from everything from appetizer to dessert. The service was outstanding which I think most sports restaurants/bars struggle at. Great place for family and friends. If you have kids this is definitely a great place due to the arcade attractions Gameworks have. I will be coming here for all my sports needs from UofU to RSL I'll be here.

I have to give this place 2 only is because it is smaller and not many selection (games) compare to the one in Seattle. Game works is suppose to be chuck e cheese for adults but It is def not this place. :)

  • Dorothy C.

Pretty good food, I would say comparable to a Chili's or Iggy's but you'll pay substantially more. The arcade is fun, and there's every sport you can think of on the big screens while you are eating. It's like a big chuck E cheese for grown ups, but kids have fun too! The arcade has the time card option or buy credits for the ticket games. The time card is kind of cool but I prefer the credits option to play for tickets. Overall, the food is decent and the arcade was fun! The service is pretty good.

I have been to Gameworks with my family 5 times. Of those 5 times, only our first visit was without issue. The other times we wait at a MINIMUM, 20-30 minutes for cold food. We receive poor service, and it feels like none of the waiters take their job seriously. They stand around in the back and do not see if we need anything or of our meal is to our satisfaction. We go and enjoy the happy hour specials offered. We order sceral appetizers but they removed one of our favorites so we choose whats available. The kitchen is always empty, and for what we order it is absolutely baffling why our orders take so long every...single...time. The one time I complained, the manager just took a set amount off our bill and tahtwas that. I want to like GameWorks, as my kids enjoy it, but honestly, it feels like the type of place that belongs on the show Bar Rescue or Undercover Boss. Salt Lake City GW needs a lot of work. From cold and cheeseless nachos, dry potato skins, to burnt hot wings, to quesadillas that have burnt edges and look as thiugh they are dipped in grease. Even my water tasted funny. The waiter had hit the lemonade button and so added that into my water and served it to me. This last visit, enough was enough and I do not plan on eating there anymore.

We were so excited to go here.. We are from Seattle and thought the games would compare... They were like Classic Fun games.. Super lame.... Plus the service is awful, we went for a football game and were told to hush from a horrible waitress with an added, " you ran my table away"snide ignorant comment... Place is just another nail in the coffin for Gateway.....Unless you like over priced games, bad service, and weird football fans.. this is not the place for you

Terrible food .. Tastes like frozen food they just heated up . Very expensive games ,20 bucks in games lasts 5 min. Activate your game card is an extra $2.00.

Well if this review was about the arcade area id give it 5 stars but, unfortunately this is about my dining experience. we had an appetizer, fish and chips, a burger, and a kids chicken tender meal, no drinks just water came out to close to $50 including tip. The only good thing was our server Justine(total sweetheart) and the burger and fries lol. This was our second time trying the chicken tenders out, and like last time they had zero seasoning. Not even a pinch of salt, if you want ur kids to enjoy their meal buy them something at the food court. Same problem with the fish and chips, the batter even tasted like the one they used for the chicken tenders, zero seasoning.

Decided to give this place a try with another couple. We got sat pretty quick. The server took our drink and appetizer orders then we requested more time to look over the menu. The server then ignored us for over twenty minutes. We walked out without eating anything. Really disappointed with the service. As we were walking out the server watched us leave but did not try to stop us l just stood behind the bar laughing with another server.

Had my daughter's birthday here and I would not recommend it! It was expensive & unorganized. The 1 hour play cards only work on the yellow box games & there weren't very many at all to choose from. Almost every card had issues and had to get new ones activated. The cakes they provide are from Costco & they are horribly sweet. The pizzas for the kids looked burnt & weren't very good. The staff was friendly but didn't communicate very well eachother! This place is best for an adult get together.

This review is for the Arcade part of Gameworks. My husband and I decided to take the kids to Gameworks this past Saturday. We got there at noonish and were the first ones there so pretty much had all the arcade games to us for the first half hour. Our kids (6 and 3) had so much fun there! The arcades are new and in working condition (except for the Rambo arcade but that didn't make a difference to us). Husband tried the 3d scary game and liked it. The kids loved the Mario and Transformers games, and I liked any of the shooting games. We didn't try the room with the "ticket" arcades or the room with the PCs and TVs with video game consoles so I can't rate those rooms but I highly recommend this place. The service was awesome, all the employees were super nice, especially the lady that checked us in and the general manager. Thumbs up for great customer service! This place is fun for the whole family! We were there for a few hours and my youngest did not want to leave. Check Groupon there's an awesome deal going on right now. If not you can always find coupons and deals on their website. We will definitely come back to Gameworks! We all had such a great time there and plan on trying out their restaurant as well next time :)

This lunch went from good to a hot mess within minutes. 4 of us went in, 3 meals came out wrong. A Green Goddess Salad that was supposed to have Quinoa didn't have any on it. Instead of Green Goddess Salad Dressing, it was brought with Thousand Island. The waiter went back for the correct salad dressing and to ask about the quinoa, didn't return for about 20 mins. We were told the kitchen was out of quinoa. The Green Goddess dressing he brought had horse radish in it. Have you ever had Green Goddess with Horse Radish? It was nasty. Fish tacos were ordered without the mango salsa, but it came with mango salsa. And a Chicken sandwich with fries that was supposed to have fry sauce, came without fry sauce. It took an hour to get the corrected fish tacos. No condiments were ever brought to the table for the kettle chips, french fries or sandwiches. We had to ask for refills and straws for our drinks. Lastly, it appeared that this was our waiters first day on the waitstaff. I can't honestly tell you if the issues were his or the kitchen, but my 3 friends and I will not be going back to this place.

Hmm where do I begin? If your goal is to go somewhere with your kids to play games then by all means this is probably the place for you. Just make sure you eat dinner first or you will be sorely disappointed. We waited about an hour for our food and there were only 5 other people in the whole restaurant. We did have a larger party but we're in Utah so this is bound to happen often. Everyone's food was cold and the bottom of my pizza was burnt to a crisp. The fries were very salty and the waitress had attitude with my brother at one point because he was looking at his menu and didn't hear her talking to him. Overall I WOULD NOT recommend eating at this place. The services was okay but the food was not worth the money.

We had the worst experience ever! We had a party of 16 that called ahead on a Saturday night. It was 7pm. The Jazz Game had started when we got there. We didn't get our food until the game was over. They ran out of food. Came to our table 20 minutes later to tell 3 of us to change our order. We had to beg for refills on our drinks. A table didn't get cleaned off the entire time we were there. They we NOT busy! Maybe a total of 10 tables in the entire place. We saw them walk in with groceries from the grocery store. Our food came out cold. We had 1 of us not ever get the food that was ordered. Another one of us did not get a drink from the bar because they "couldn't find the bar tender. We don't know where he went." When we complained to Management she offered us game cards. She only comped maybe a total of 4 meals. We had a birthday we were celebrating. They didn't even offer her a dessert. What could possibly go wrong did! They took no ownership. A sorry at that point was simply not enough!

Video games were clean and newer, and everyone enjoyed them. I agree with other reviewer that if you buy a time card, it's disappointing you cannot "continue" a game. I understand they don't want someone hogging one game forever, but I should be able to continue once or twice. We didn't try the PC gaming room, but it looked really nice. All the games seemed super clean and well kept, which is a contrast from most video game arcades. They have a good variety of games too: 3 pinballs, few air hockey tablers, basketball throwing games, football throwing, skiing, zombies, monster shooters, tank, racing cars, Batman, Aliens, Terminator, pirates, motorcycles, Hydro Thunder, etc. I would like a couple more "old school" games like Pac Man or Gauntlet. The food was good, but super slow. We ordered drinks and appetizers near the end of "happy hour." The place was not crowded or busy, but Drinks took over 10 minutes, the appetizers took 50 minutes! We didn't bother ordering entrees or dessert. That delay was nuts, but we weren't too unhappy because we (2 couples and our kids) sent the kids back into the arcade area while the grownups chatted and drank, then gathered them back when the grub arrived. The place was clearly understaffed. When I asked about the delay on the food, the server (who was totally cool and appropriate) told me they only had one person working in the kitchen that night, which was a Thursday. All employees were pleasant and appropriate. Bathrooms were clean and nice too. Overall, I'll definitely go back, but I probably will only plan on a snack and drinks, not a real meal.
